My first experience with submitting app to App Store

On March 29 I’ve finally submitted my game to App Store. This means waiting for a review, for about 8  days on average(for iOS apps). When I woke up, I saw there’s email from iTunes Store, saying my app was rejected. There was also second email containing message, main point was “We found your app uses the iOS Advertising Identifier but does not include ad functionality. This does not comply with the terms of the iOS Developer Program License Agreement, as required by the App Store Review Guidelines.”. 

I’m from Czech Republic, so there was no need to rush and trying to solve this, as there’s around 10 hours difference. After coming back from work and eating dinner I’ve logged into iTunes Connect and checked my options. In my game I’m displaying ads from 3 networks – iAd, AdMob and ReMob. AdMob is used for banners and is shown whenever iAd banner fails to load(i.e. is not available in particular country). RevMob is for fullscreen ads, shown from time to time. Those third party ad networks needs AdSupport.framework and IDFA(Advertising Identifier).

In that message from second email they’re also saying:

If your app is serving ads, please:
– Ensure that you have tested your app on a device, not just the simulator, and that you have removed all previous versions of your app prior to testing
– Provide us the steps to locate ads in your app

So I replied and explained my ads setup. Something like hour later I’ve received another message:

Thank you for providing the additional review information that your app serves third-party advertisements. We continued the review, and find the app is in compliance with our guideline. You will receive an email update once the review has been completed.

I’m glad this communication went so quick. Now let’s hope next morning I’ll be opening email from iTunes store, it will be saying my app was accepted :).
